Black Lives Matter + Anti Racism Resources
The following is copied from my June1, 2020 newsletter, ICYMI.
Hi friends,
As I shared on social media, I am embarrassed that has taken me until this far in my life to come to terms with the degree of complicity I have played in perpetuating racism- but it stops now. I can never understand the grief that the black community is feeling, but I am committed to doing better. I will continue to provide my online classes movement, restorative practices, coaching, and healing work as that is my job, but anti-racism is part of wellness and you can expect to see a continued, life long effort from me to not just include, but center and amplify the voices of BIPOC in my field. As a white woman, especially one who is so new to this unlearning journey, I cannot be your guide on this path. I did want to share with you how I am starting in this work instead of my normal newsletter for those of you are feeling overwhelmed about how to begin. This is by NO means an exhaustive list, and I am not qualified to tell you how to do this work- I implore all my white peers to commit to doing your own research by listening to BIPOC from here if you have not already. Many of these items can be done right away in under 5 minutes. I challege you to take at least 2 steps before closing your email this morning.

*Filling my feed with diverse bodies, outside the traditional wellness influencer we expect to see drinking her kale smoothie, was a huge part of my eating disorder recovery. We consume an incredible amount of social media- intentionally filling your feed with BIPOC advocates and voices will not undo a lifetime of unconscious bias- but it is a quick, free, EASY way to start to open your mind and sit with the discomfort of confronting our old patterns and beliefs.
